| This new ambulance will be housed at station #1 on Wolf Road and replaces a 2018 ambulance. The 2018 ambulance has been moved to reserve status, replacing a 2014 ambulance which will be sold.
Partnering with Chandler Services, the Mokena Fire Protection District (MFPD) saved over $150,000 by remounting the rear box onto a new cab and chassis. The rear box was completely refurbished; stripped and repainted, new interior, new HVAC, and new lighting – just as a new ambulance would be.
This isn’t the first time the MFPD has completed an ambulance “remount”, as two other remounts were successfully completed. What makes this remount different? We were able to keep the work local – ensuring efficiency and quality that was simply unattainable previously.
Through the combined vision and effort of the Mokena Fire Fleet Maintenance Division and Chandler Services of Mokena, everything in this ambulance was built/designed through the eye of a mechanic. This will aid towards minimum downtime during preventative maintenance and repairs.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is the lifeblood of any fire district for department; in 2024, the MFPD responded to approximately 2,200 EMS incidents while totaling over 3,000 ambulance responses.
This new vehicle is equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to enhance patient care. The ergonomic interior has been optimized for both patient comfort and paramedic efficiency, with smart storage solutions and intuitive equipment placement. This new generation of ambulances represents a significant step forward in healthcare delivery.
The Mokena Fire Protection District would like to thank our community for investing in your EMS response! |
