🦅🇺🇸 While we get ready to stock up on grilling essentials and cold drinks, it’s also important we prepare to celebrate safely.
We’re asking our community to celebrate smart and stay safe this 4th by doing the following:
🚫 Leave fireworks to the pros—attend a public show instead of lighting your own.
✨ Sparklers burn at up to 2,000°F. Go ahead and google the injuries those can cause. I won't post those here. 🤢
💧 Keep water (bucket or hose) nearby. Whether it's for an out-of-hand firecracker or yourself; it's important to stay hydrated!!
📜 Know what’s legal—many consumer fireworks are illegal in Illinois.
❌ Never relight a “dud”, odds are, it's not. Keep your limbs—wait 20 minutes and soak it in water.
🏠 Stay clear of buildings, dry grass, and vehicles
🗑 Soak used fireworks before throwing them away
🐾Keep pets and veterans in mind: Loud fireworks can trigger anxiety in animals and PTSD in veterans. We love to celebrate our freedom but remember those who fought for it and the battles they may still be fighting at home. Please be respectful of neighbors and loved ones who may be affected.
🚒 Our first responders will be out protecting the community—help us reduce preventable fires, injuries, and 911 calls with safe choices.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July, Mokena! ❤️💥🇺🇸 |
